So, you have started up your own business and you would like a website for it, or perhaps you already have a website that you would like to have redesigned. One way or another, you’re most likely searching for a website design agency to do the job for you. But how do you make the choice? How do you distinguish the good from the bad ones? We have prepared some guidelines that will help you make the transition from an idea to a fully functioning website.
Know what you need.
Before googling for a website design agency, you should have at least a rough idea of what kind of a website do you want and what would you like to achieve with it. A website promoting your brand, products and services isn’t the same as an online shop. In the former, you would only need a website that is able to send a message to the viewers and increase your brand awareness while the latter requires maintaining of a customer base and making sure it provides a nice return on investment. Find out what your budget is and see if it is enough for what you actually want to achieve. Only by knowing your needs can you find the best team that can satisfy them.
Look at portfolios and testimonials.
And with look we mean analyze. Instead of just simply looking at the website and determining if it’s good looking or not, go in depth. Try to find if they have built any similar websites to what you need. Try to see the reasons behind the decision making. What are they trying to communicate through the website? A good website design goes far beyond arranging the needed elements so that they look nicely. Imagine yourself as a visitor of that website and see if the design has a potential to achieve the desired goals or not.
Check the testimonials of their previous clients as well. Although it is pretty unlikely that an agency would publish testimonials that makes them look bad, it is still a nice way to see what kind of an experience did other clients have while working with them. Were they easy to reach? Did they provide revisions and advice? Did they finish their work on time? If it’s a big project you’re working on, you might want to try getting into contact with some of their customers and asking them about their experience.
Ask questions.
Make a list of several potential website design agencies and get in touch with them. Ask them how do they feel about your project and why do they think they would be the perfect agency it. What would the cost be, and how would your relationship be while building the website and most importantly, once it’s live. Will you have support in case you need any changes or something goes wrong or do they just build you a website and leave everything else up to you?
After these discussions you shouldn’t have any problems deciding for the perfect agency to acquire their website design services. And in case there are several agencies that sound good and you’re having a hard time choosing one, chances are any of those would work.
