One of the coolest forms of video is time-lapse. A few years ago, it used to be nearly impossible to do time-lapse video unless you had advanced (and ridiculously expensive) cameras. Recently, I began to test out a few methods of time-lapse. Here is how to take time-lapse video using your iPhone.
Time-Lapse Video Using an iPhone
Hyperlapse (view in iTunes) is a great app that allows you to easily create time-lapse videos. The app is free and created by Instagram. After installing it, open the app and frame what you’d like to take a video of. Touch the area of the screen that you want the video to be focused on. Click on the record button and start shooting your video. As you shoot the video, you’ll see two counters: one of the real time length and another one of the length that the video will be when you are done. After a minute or so, hit the record button again to finish your video and you’ll have a few options to change the speed.
The app has a built in steady-cam feature to help your time-lapse video be less shaky. It is best, however, if you can do all that you can to keep your camera as still as possible to help produce the best possible outcome.
Pro Tip: You can hit the rotate button on the bottom right hand side of the screen to take a selfie video. Keep your head in the same spot and as still possible while changing the background.
